Spain coach Luis de la Fuente confirmed in his press conference following the goalless draw against Serbia in the opening round of the Nations League that Mikel Oyarzabal has a ‘very badly sprained ankle’. The Real Sociedad captain came on in the second half of the international fixture and is likely to be out of the team's return to La Liga when they face Real Madrid.

Mikel Oyarzabal ended the match in Belgrade against Serbia without being able to leave the field on his own feet, leaving on a stretcher, due to a "severe ankle sprain", as confirmed by coach Luis de la Fuente.
"Mikel has a severe sprained ankle; tomorrow, we will see how it evolves, we will do the tests and hopefully it will just be a sprain, which is what it looks like," De la Fuente told a press conference.
Oyarzabal, scorer of the goal that won Euro 2024 in Berlin on 14th July, came on for Ayoze after 57 minutes in the Nations League match against Serbia and was injured in one of the last actions of the match in a collision with the opposing goalkeeper.
He will be out of Spain's match in Switzerland on Sunday and will return to San Sebastian to begin his recovery.
