Spurs were quick to break the stalemate at Old Trafford, as they took the lead after 3 minutes of play. Van de Ven set up Brennan Johnson with an assist following an amazing run from the middle of the pitch after disposessing Marcus Rashford. Chances came form both ends, as Zirzkee hit the post and Romero almost scored with a volley, however, all the game took a complete turn following Bruno Fernandes' red card right before the half-time whistle. From there, Man United's downfall began, as Spurs doubled the lead 3 minutes into the second half. Solanke then sealed off the game with a third goal from a corner to add to United's woes.
