“Suarez? we are with Bielsa 100%, but there were things that made us uncomfortable”
Jose Maria Gimenez said Tuesday that Luis Suarez's statements, in which he harshly criticized Uruguayan coach Marcelo Bielsa, opened “an opportunity” to grow as a group. The Atletico Madrid defender defended that they are “with Bielsa 100%”, but admitted that “there were things that made them uncomfortable”.

Jose Maria Gimenez was asked about Luis Suarez's criticism of Uruguay coach Marcelo Bielsa. The Atletico Madrid player preferred to see it as ‘an opportunity to grow’ and not as a reason for ‘chaos’.
"A lot of people are seeing tremendous chaos. Honestly, I see an opportunity. An opportunity for us to grow as a group, for all of us to get stronger. I'm not just talking about the players, but everyone. Coaching staff, players and management. That we are all rowing for the same side."
He also pointed out that the most important thing is the Uruguayan national team and that his relationship with Bielsa is ‘professional’. "We are with the coach 100%. We are grateful to him because obviously he has shown it and it has been reflected in the results (...) We are very grateful because obviously, he is giving us a lot of tools. We are with him."
However, he admitted that Luis Suarez's criticisms may have some truth to them: "It's true that in terms of coexistence, there were things that made us uncomfortable and it's best to talk about it like the adults that we are," he said.
