Wojciech Szczesny, who hung up his gloves about a month ago, will put them back on to play for Barcelona. His signing, according to the latest reports, will be confirmed this Monday.
Before arriving at Camp Nou, the former Juventus goalkeeper made it clear to team-mate Robert Lewandowski that he would only sign for Los Cules if he was guaranteed a starting place.
"From what I understand, there is a call between Lewandowski and Szczesny in which the goalkeeper tells him that he is fine as he is and that he is either going to be a starter or he is not," journalist Jofre Mateu told “Cadena SER”.
The goalkeeper told his international team-mate that he didn't want to go to Barcelona and spend the season without playing: "He told him not to make him go to Barca and then sit on the bench."
After the last league game, Hansi Flick admitted that they are looking for a goalkeeper, although he did not go into whether Szczesny is one of the candidates for the job. Still, everything seems to indicate that he will be the one to take the place of the injured Ter Stegen.
