The 29-year-old centre-back, whose contract with Bayer Leverkusen expires on June 30, is keen to reunite with former coach Hansi Flick, now at Barcelona, and make the move to Spain.
Despite interest from German giants Bayern Munich, who were eager to strengthen their defence, Tah has chosen Barcelona for the next chapter of his career. According to Mundo Deportivo, the defender has expressed his intention to join the Catalans, with a meeting with club officials set to finalise the deal.
The club's board took advantage of their visit to Germany for a Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund">Borussia Dortmund in December to hold discussions, even though FIFA rules only allow negotiations with free agents to begin after January 1st.
The defender is said to have accepted a significantly lower salary than what Bayern could have offered, driven by his long-standing admiration for Barcelona. Despite his age, the player could sign a five-year deal, though details are still in the early stages of negotiation.
