Javier Tebas, president of La Liga, declared that the Spanish competition has players of the quality of Kylian Mbappe, Julian Alvarez and Lamine Yamal and that he is not "worried" about movements in other markets such as England or Arabia.
"We have Mbappe, Alvarez, Yamal and we are not worried about other movements. Our national team won the European Championship with the vast majority playing in our league and the same with the Olympic Games where we won gold. Not everything is done with transfers," the president said.
"We are the most efficient league that knows how to spend money with the best results. Madrid have brought Mbappe on a free transfer and Barcelona have home-grown players who in the English league would pay 100 million euros," he added on Thursday at an event to explain the clubs’ squad cost limits (LCPD) after the end of the transfer window.
On Arabia, Tebas was clear: "They have realised that it's not all about the players and they have cut spending on transfers by half compared to the previous year because they are looking for another way to grow in a more sustained way".
He also explained that other leagues such as the Italian and French leagues do not have as many regulations as the Spanish league, but he made it clear that they were not going to go down that road, as they do not want to go back to the times when clubs were losing money.
