Manchester United's nightmare return to the Champions League was confirmed after the Red Devils suffered a narrow defeat to Bayern Munich on the Champions League group stage final matchday and were eliminated from the Europa League play-offs.
The Red Devils are also struggling in the Premier League, having lost two of their last three domestic games, including a crushing 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth at Old Trafford.
However, Erik ten Hag was keen to take positives from his side's poor form in the press conference following the defeat to the Bundesliga champions, claiming his side had "played some good football" in the group stage.
"We played some good football in the Champions League. We have to take some good performances into the Premier League. We want to be back in the Champions League. We didn't lose it today, that's clear. We had good performances but also we made mistakes. In the end it was not good enough," he said
"The facts are we do not have enough points. We are disappointed as a group, as a manager, I am disappointed. We should have done better. Today's performance was very good. We didn't deserve to lose, but we lost the game," he concluded.
