The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) unveiled on Sunday a new image for the façade of its headquarters in Rio de Janeiro, which now displays a large photograph of Vinicius Junior wearing the national team shirt and the caption: ‘The best in the world is ours’.
The organisation celebrated that, with The Best Award, which FIFA grants to the best footballer of the year, the player from Sao Gonçalo "joined a select group" of Brazilian players, formed by Ronaldo Nazário, who won the award three times, Ronaldinho Gaúcho (2), Romario and Rivaldo.
In addition to reviewing Vini's career and the titles he has won in his career with Real Madrid, the CBF said that "the striker's impact goes beyond the four lines" of the football pitch.
"Vinicius is today one of the main protagonists of the anti-racist struggle and works so that other young blacks like him, raised in places of social instability, have conditions to rise in life and fulfil their dreams," the Brazilian football governing body said in a statement.
