“The best option was to stay at Real Sociedad” - Zubimendi explains why he rejected Liverpool

Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi said Wednesday that he was happy with his decision to stay at Real Sociedad, despite Liverpool's offers for him last summer.
“The best option was to stay here, and that's why I made that decision. I am at peace with my decision and the fans can rest assured,” said the midfielder from Guipuzcoa.
Zubimendi appeared, along with Imanol Alguacil, at the official press conference prior to the Europa League match against Anderlecht and was asked about his decision to stay at Real Sociedad, despite the firm offer he received from Liverpool.
The midfielder was satisfied with his decision and admitted that in the summer he experienced “uncomfortable” moments due to the “rumours” surrounding his situation, which he tried to handle with maturity.
Real's poor start to the season has not made him reconsider his decision, which should not be questioned “for four or five games”, as he is convinced that the Real squad has a lot of potential and expects an “exciting” campaign.
