Germany midfielder Toni Kroos said the 2-0 win over Hungary on Wednesday was "important" and recalled that Germany's problems in tournaments have often come in the second game.
"We have rarely won the first two games. The problems often came in the second game," he told state television after the second day of Group A at Euro 2024.
"In the first half we had to overcome some difficulties. But overcoming difficulties gives a team a lot. These are situations that come from the Round of 16 onwards against good opponents. That's why it's important to have those experiences and resolve them successfully," he said.
Toni Kroos celebrated Germany's qualification for the last 16 of UEFA EURO 2024. Julian Nagelsmann's side will be hoping to end the group stage on a high against Switzerland in Frankfurt.
