Erling Haaland was not the key player we know him to be in his game against Real Madrid last night. The Norwegian striker had a quiet game, with hardly any opportunities in front of goal and mostly going under the radar for the most part of the 90 minutes.
Interestingly, the Norwegian international made headlines in England on Wednesday, when the 'The Times' brought to light the system he used to choose his future last summer, as he left Dortmund.
Haaland chose City after using his own points system, from 0 to 10, with his father Alf-Inge and his then-agent, Mino Raiola, who passed away last year. The categories the Norwegian used were their competiveness, stadium size and the teams need for a forward, among others.
The future Cityzen quickly discarded Real Madrid. This was due to the presence of Karim Benzema, even though he didn't have a guarenteed spot with the Spanish side before his stunning Ballon d'Or win. According to the information available, City scored a 10/10 regarding their need for a forward, and 'Los Blancos' only got a 5 due the French international's presence.
Manchester City topped the list, which also featured Madrid, Barca and Bayern, all of them willing to bet on the most fashionable striker in Europe.
