Javier Tebas, president of La Liga, spoke about several current affairs at the 'Premios de la Asociacion de la Prensa Deportiva de Madrid', including Barcelona and Kylian Mbappe.
The Frenchman is once again the target of Real Madrid, who could bring him in for free in July: “There is a high probability that Mbappe will arrive at Real Madrid. More than 50%. It's a personal opinion… it depends on Real Madrid, they will decide”.
Barcelona's current affairs focus on Xavi's departure at the end of the season. "It happened so recently that I haven't been able to reflect on it much. These are decisions that happen, in clubs some leave and others come. There's a long way to go until 30 June, who's to say he won't stay, we have to wait," he explained.
"At Barcelona it reflects what happens when there is a sporting crisis, what happens at all clubs. Barca is a team that always aspires to win everything and it is frustrating for a coach not to achieve this. It also happens to other teams with their objectives", he said.
"There is talk of instability at Barcelona. I think what it has is that it is not what it has been in other seasons in the economic field to sign. It will get back to normal. I wouldn't say it's instability, it's a bit like adapting the club's situation to an economic reality that I think they are doing well. And then the sporting issue. Not everyone is always going to win everything. We shouldn't make a drama out of all this", he added about the Catalan club.
On Barcelona, he also referred to Laporta's words about the league being adulterated: "It's not true. These are things that are said, but it's not true. He will get over it. Human beings also have the right to let off steam, as they say in my country. I don't give it more importance than there is. I'm simply saying that I don't agree, but I'm not giving it any more importance nor am I flagellating myself because I say that".
