These are the qualified national sides for EURO 2024
The 24 teams that will play the European Championship in Germany in the summer of 2024 are now known. These are the qualified teams to try to succeed reigning champions Italy.
Euro 2024 will take place between 14th June and 14th July next year in Germany. It will be the second time the country has hosted the tournament, following the 1988 tournament.
Little by little, we have been getting to know the teams that have qualified for the tournament, starting with the hosts, a Germany that wants to regain its level of a decade ago.
In fact, we already know the 24 countries that will be battling it out next summer. Twenty of them made it through the qualifying round, while the last three made it through the play-offs.
Germany
The hosts of the next continental tournament have qualified precisely because of their status as hosts. The team now coached by Julian Nagelsmann, however, has not found its feet in the friendlies and leaves many doubts ahead of next summer's tournament.
France
The first team to qualify for Euro 2024, after Germany. The world runners-up finished as group winners in a group with the Netherlands, Greece, Ireland and Gibraltar, and did so with a near-full house of victories. 22 points out of 24.
Belgium
The Red Devils, now with Tedesco on the bench, drew only against Austria and Sweden, but have looked good after a dreadful World Cup. Romelu Lukaku seems to have regained his hunger for goals, being the top scorer of the entire qualifying phase with 14 goals.
Portugal
Cristiano Ronaldo will be able to play in what is expected to be his last major tournament with Portugal, if he does not make it to 2026. The 'Quinas', under Roberto Martinez, have had a perfect run of form, with 10 wins in 10 games, 36 goals scored and 2 conceded. Nobody has been better than Portugal in this qualification phase.
Scotland
One of the big surprises of this qualification phase. They stunned Spain, who were on the brink of the playoffs, but eventually faded as the games went on. With McTominay as the team's top scorer, they finally finished with 17 points and knocked out Haaland and Odegaard's Norway.
Turkey
Another surprise in this ranking. Not because of the level of the squad, which is high, but because of their performance in recent tournaments. With the arrival of Montella, the Ottomans have taken a step forward, sharing the group with Croatia and Wales, the other teams fighting for second place.
Austria
Just behind the unstoppable Belgium came the great Austrians. Ralf Rangnick has built a team without having to rely on a single player. Sabitzer, Baumgartner and Gregoritsch scored 10 of Austria's 16 goals in qualifying.
England
Another of the favourites to win the title in July next year. The reigning European runners-up have only conceded two draws, one of them worthless, to prove that they want to finally bring the trophy home. With Harry Kane in top form in 2023, that's easier said than done.
Hungary
Dominik Szoboszlai. It is true that Rossi's side have more men in the squad, but Hungary would not be talked about without the Liverpool player. Szoboszlai is one of those players worth paying the ticket for. In a group with Serbia and Montenegro, they have not lost a single match.
Slovakia
Beating Dzeko's Bosnia, the great Iceland of a few years ago or the very surprising Luxembourg has earned them one of the 2 tickets in their group. They only lost to Portugal in both matches to be one of the best second-placed teams.
Albania
For the second time in its history, Albania will be at the top continental tournament at the national level. They were able to finish top of the group and knock out Robert Lewandowski's Poland. Sylvinho has made history with this small country.
Denmark
One of the teams that theoretically should have been the easiest to qualify has been slow to do so and has not confirmed it until the last international break. Denmark is a classic in the final stages and got in tied on points with Slovenia, and only 4 points ahead of Finland and Kazakhstan. The last match, with nothing at stake, they lost.
Switzerland
One of the toughest teams that always makes it difficult for the favourites. Switzerland are very difficult to beat, but also find it hard to win. This is how they finished their qualification, with 4 wins and 5 draws and one defeat to finish second in the group.
Romania
Another of the most surprising teams in this qualification phase. They have only conceded 5 goals in the 10 matches played, which has allowed them to go through as top team. They are not group winners because they have drawn one match too many.
The Netherlands
After missing Euro 2016 and the 2018 World Cup, they returned to the highest level at Euro 2020, but without making a great impression. With Van Gaal on the bench they were shipwrecked, and with Koeman they have returned to their best.
Serbia
Mitrovic's Serbia. The striker is in the spotlight for the Balkan team, who entered the European Championship finals with a lot of doubts after drawing against Bulgaria. They need to improve a lot if they want to fight for a place in the knockout stage.
Czech Republic
The Czech Republic had to suffer until the last day to qualify for the finals. In the midst of a crisis that has ended with their coach's job, the Czechs beat Moldova to reach the European Championships in Germany.
Italy
The reigning champions sweated hard to fight to retain the title. Mancini's team drew in the last match against Ukraine, which could have left them out, with a controversial play in stoppage time. A lot to improve for a country that has been left out of the last two World Cups.
Slovenia
The penultimate team to qualify was Jan Oblak's Slovenia. They needed to avoid defeat against Kazakhstan on the final matchday and got the win through Verbic. If there is one man who stands out, beyond the Atletico Madrid goalkeeper, it is Leverkusen's Sesko.
Croatia
The last team to qualify directly. They had to wait until the last match on the last day to book their place at the European Championship. Modric's side, who have reached the finals in recent years, beat Armenia to seal their place at Germany 2024, albeit with little fanfare.
Georgia
The Georgian team qualified for the European Championship for the first time after advancing from the qualifying tournament. They eliminated Luxembourg in the semi-finals and had to go all the way to penalties to beat Greece and reach the finals in Germany.
Ukraine
A late goal by Mudryk against Iceland will allow Ukraine to play in the next European Championship. They came from behind in a game that was difficult for them in the first half, but eventually clinched their ticket to Germany.
Poland
The last team to qualify for the European Championship was Poland. In a match in which they were unable to score a goal, Poland beat Wales in the fifth and final penalty shootout to go to Germany thanks to Szceszny.
