Current Pacos de Ferreira player Vitorino Antunes spoke to 'O Jugo' and went in against those people who criticised Cristiano Ronaldo for not retiring from the Portugal national side when Roberto Martinez' rein started.
"The Portuguese fans should be grateful for him, value him more and enjoy it while he's still playing football. He's given a lot to Portuguese football, but we're still belittling what is ours and getting jealous over what others have", the ex-Malaga man said.
He then also continued to defend the ex-Real Madrid player: "Cristiano is still giving a lot to the national side. He's very hard-working man who's got a lot of goals, give a lot of commitment and gets record. He'll be the first to leave the national team when he no longer feels useful".
At 38 years of age, Ronaldo started Martinez' first two games in charge as Portugal boss against Liechtenstein and Luxembourg.
And, as we've come to expect, the Portuguese star who currently plays at Al Nassr scored a total of five goals across the two games.
