As the curtain falls on 2024, Dani Olmo has plenty to celebrate. In his interview with Marca, he summarised the year with one word - "unforgettable".
"I'll never forget it. This year has allowed me to win a major title with Spain and return home wearing the Barcelona shirt," Olmo said. His registration with the Blaugrana for the January transfer window remains pending, but his excitement is palpable.
In a separate interview with Barca One, Olmo shared what led him to choose Barcelona, despite having other offers on the table. "There were other options, but when Barcelona came along with this initiative, I didn’t hesitate. Coming back home to be with my family and friends was a dream, and now it’s a reality," he explained.
Olmo's connection to Barcelona runs deep. After spending six years at La Masia from 2008 to 2014, he left to pursue first-team opportunities with Dinamo Zagreb. From there, his career trajectory took him to RB Leipzig, a move he described as "brave" but essential for his development.
"Moving to Croatia was a bold step, but it helped me so much. My goal was always clear—to return to Barcelona one day," he stated.
His decision to join Barcelona wasn't just about sentiment. Olmo cited two compelling reasons: the chance to play in the newly revamped Spotify Camp Nou and the opportunity to team up with world-class players like Frenkie de Jong, Robert Lewandowski and Ronald Araujo. "We have a fantastic squad, and we hope to bring a lot of joy to our fans," he added.
Looking ahead to 2025, Olmo remains ambitious and driven. "This year has been very special, but it’s only the beginning. I feel there's so much more to achieve. I want to win titles with both Barcelona and the national team," he concluded.
For Dani Olmo, 2024 may have been a year to remember, but it seems his eyes are firmly set on an even brighter future.
