Three La Liga goalkeepers in the battle for the Zamora trophy
La Liga is coming to its final stretch and on the last matchday there will be a fierce fight for the Zamora Trophy. Unai Simon (Athletic), Ter Stegen (FC Barcelona) and Alex Remiro (Real Sociedad) are all in contention for the award.

Although it looked like Unai Simon would take over from Ter Stegen as the Zamora winner, the goalkeeper's new clean sheet against Rayo Vallecano (3-0) will leave the trophy up in the air until the last matchday, where Real Sociedad goalkeeper Alex Remiro is also in contention for the award.
After conceding four goals at Montilivi, the Barca goalkeeper has now gone three clean sheets against Real Sociedad, Almeria and Rayo. And now the maths are clear: if the German keeps a clean sheet against Sevilla and Unai Simon concedes a goal in Vallecas, the German will retain the title of goalkeeper who has conceded the fewest goals.
Ter Stegen has conceded 26 goals in his 27 La Liga games so far, giving him an average of 0.96 goals conceded per game.
The minimum number of appearances to qualify for the award is 28 games, so if the Teutonic keeper plays in Sevilla and does not concede any more goals, he would finish the season with a coefficient of 0.92.
This possibility forces Unai Simon (33 goals conceded in 35 games), who was left on the bench this matchday to preserve his chances of winning the trophy, to play the last game against Rayo, as he leads the standings with 0.94 goals conceded per game.
The third in line is Real Sociedad goalkeeper Alex Remiro (35 goals conceded in 36 games and a coefficient of 0.97), who could also win the award if Ter Stegen and Unai Simon concede in the last league game and he does not.
