The day after the Ballon d'Or gala and after receiving support from his teammates via social media after not being awarded the World Player of the Year, Vinicius Junior posted the word "together" accompanied by a picture of the Real Madrid first team squad on Tuesday.
A gala that Real Madrid did not attend after reports that neither Vinicius nor Dani Carvajal would win the Ballon d'Or, an award that went to Manchester City's Spanish midfielder Rodri Hernandez.
No Real Madrid representatives were at a gala where they were recognised as the best club in the world last season and coach Carlo Ancelotti as the best coach.
The decision not to attend was made minutes before the Madrid squad was due to board the plane for Paris and in support of Vinicius Junior, who until Monday had been the overwhelming favourite to win the Ballon d'Or.
"Together," the winger wrote in a message accompanied by two white hearts and a photo of the current season's first team squad alongside president Florentino Perez and honorary president Jose Martinez.
