Toni Kroos returned to international football this international break, playing a key role in Germany's victory over France at Lyon. After the match, he gave a statement to 'TVE' in which he said he was looking forward to Kylian Mbappe, whom he faced on the pitch, joining him in the Real Madrid dressing room next season. However, he does not know anything about it.
"If he doesn't know, how do I know? We want the best players at Madrid and he is, without a doubt, one of them. The important thing is to win things. It would be nice for Madrid, but I think we already have a good team," he conceded. On the subject of his renewal or retirement, he said: "It's the decision I have to make in the next one or two months at Madrid and, after that, we'll see".
"Last year, we decided and communicated it quite late. It will be similar this year, we'll see if it will have the same result. I'm thinking about it right now. But there is no problem: the relationship with the club is too good for that. I am sure that we will find a satisfactory solution for both parties, especially given the positive outcome of this season," he added.
"I always tell the truth and I don't know. I'm thinking about what to do, but I haven't decided anything. I'm glad that a lot of people want me to play another year, that's positive, rather than the other way around (laughs). I haven't made the decision. I will make the decision when I feel ready or it's clear to me. On the pitch, I'm not worried about it one bit. It's an important decision, but I'm so happy with what I've achieved that I'm not worried about that at all," he added.
