The signing of Kylian Mbappe by Real Madrid sets a dangerous precedent in football economics, according to Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl, who explained his views in an interview with 'Sueddeutsche Zeitung'.
"You can always get greedier with money but everyone will gradually get greedier. Transfers like Mbappe will be the nail in football's coffin. If at some point all the money goes out of the market, then there will be nothing left to do business with," he claimed.
"We are talking about hundreds of millions. It's too much and, at some point, you get the feeling it's going to explode. Everything will be oversaturated and Saudi Arabia will come. It doesn't give me a good feeling. I have to say it to be fair, but this is the market right now," he nodded.
Max Eberl praised the financial stability at Bayern Munich: "I know I won't be applauded here if we finish fifth but our account has increased. You just want to harmonise the two. I also want to be successful as the person responsible for sport that I am."
