Girona winger Viktor Tsygankov will be out for around five weeks with an injury to the biceps femoris tendon in his left leg, the club said on Friday.
Tsygankov was the team's best player in Wednesday's 3-2 home Champions League opener against Feyenoord, but before the half-hour mark, he felt a twinge and had to be substituted in pain.
Michel Sanchez had already said in his post-match press conference that the injury looked bad, and on Friday Girona confirmed that Tsygankov would miss the games against Athletic Club, Real Sociedad, Slovan Bratislava, Las Palmas, Leganes and PSV Eindhoven.
He joins defender Daley Blind and midfielder Oriol Romeu, two more important players for the coach as they were injured in Sunday's draw against Celta and will be out for four and eight weeks respectively.
