The end of an era with the England national team. After a spell of almost eight years and 102 games in the dugout, Gareth Southgate's time in charge of the national team came to an end on Tuesday with the announcement of his resignation, which shocked the whole country and the football world.
It was only logical after losing his second successive European Championship final, following the 2021 Wembley final against Italy on penalties. The coach fell just short of a title and that has led him to take the decision to leave his place in the ‘Three Lions’.
Since his confirmed departure, rumours are already swirling about who could be one of the possible replacements. It is Thomas Tuchel, who is currently without a team after finishing his adventure at Bayern Munich, according to 'Sport BILD'.
The same media outlet reports that the German wanted to take a sabbatical year, but the vacant England manager's job has made him change his mind. Moreover, the German was already interested in the job ahead of Euro 2021.
