Real Madrid defeated Barcelona in the second 'Clasico' of the La Liga season 3-2. It is a victory that has taken Carlo Ancelotti to either extend his record to 6-4 over Xavi Hernandez when only their official meetings are taken into account or to tie him at 6-6 if the pre-campaign friendlies are added to the list. The Italian tactician appeared on the 'Merengues' official television in the mixed zone to analyse it.
"We have been able to handle situations well; twice, we needed to come from behind, we were able to do it and, with that last drop of energy from a week that has been unforgettable, we managed to win," he said.
"Two demanding games; now, we are well positioned for the last part of the season. I believe that, all together, we can achieve something positive this season. La Liga title is much closer," he said.
With the win in 'El Clasico', Madrid are 11 points clear of Barca with 18 points still to play for. Ancelotti's side are in with a chance of going out as champions, while Bayern loom on the Champions League horizon.
