Brazilian captain Danilo described the 1-1 draw with Colombia as a "very hard-fought and tough" match that has given them good information to improve ahead of the quarter-final against Uruguay on Saturday.
"We worked very well against an opponent that has had more time to work than us. They demanded a lot from us and we managed to cancel them out and outplay them at times," said the Juventus defender after the match at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara.
However, the player who turns 33 on 15th July admitted that the squad coached by Dorival Junior must work "to improve the level" ahead of the quarter-final with Uruguay, this Saturday at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise (Nevada).
On the other hand, left-back Wendell reminded Tuesday that, in the face of criticism of the Brazilian national team's play, they have not yet lost in the Copa America and predicted that Uruguay, their quarter-final opponents, will see "the strength of Brazilian football".
"We are expecting a very strong opponent against Uruguay, but they will also see the strength of Brazilian football. We haven't lost. We drew two games and won one. We are unbeaten in the competition," said the Porto defender in the mixed zone at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
Wendell also asked for "a little patience" from his country's fans because, he said, they are "the winningest team in the world". "We are ready to face Uruguay and any other opponent," he said.
Brazil finished with five points in second place in Group D after draws against Costa Rica (0-0) and Colombia (1-1) and a 4-1 win over Paraguay. They will face Uruguay in the quarter-finals next Saturday in Las Vegas.
