Mauricio Pochettino was at the helm of Spurs for five and a half years before being fired in November 2019. He led the club to four consecutive top-four finishes in the Premier League and a historic Champions League final in 2019, which he lost out to Liverpool.
After brief spells at Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea, the 53-year-old landed the position of US men's team head coach and is now preparing to take them to the 2026 World Cup. Nevertheless, Pochettino admitted he would be happy to return to Tottenham again in the future,
"When I left the club I always remember one interview where I said I would like one day to come back to Tottenham and that is of course," the Argentine told 'Sky Sports. "I am in the USA, I am not going to no, I'm not going to talk about that, but what I said then still after six years or five years, I still feel in my heart that yes, I would like one day to come back."
Pochettino also revealed that he still maintains a positive relationship with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy despite the sack. He said: "There are two different sides, professional and personal and I've seen always the appreciation in between both. He is always there and he's going to be there. It's another thing to make professional decisions.
"It's true after nearly six years with all that we lived together, it was tough because of all the ups and downs and emotional things that we lived. I've seen always it's difficult in football that that doesn't affect all these types of situations in your relationship. For us, we split very well. One thing was professional, another personal and now, like the day after we left Tottenham, we keep always a very, very good relationship."
Tottenham Hotspur are currently enduring a difficult campaign under Ange Postecoglou, who is now in his second season in charge of the north London side. They are languishing in 14th place in the Premier League and have only the Europa League left to play after facing elimination from the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
