Manchester United took on Olympique Lyonnais at Murrayfield Stadium for the second game of pre-season after winning 2-0 against Leeds United.
Donny van de Beek, who has missed most of the 2022/23 season due to a knee injury, scored the winner in the 49th minute to give the Red Devils victory in Edinburgh. The first half was very tight as it ended in a goalless draw but everything changed at the start of the second half.
Antony was able to break the deadlock early in the match but his effort was well saved. Kobbie Mainoo and the Brazilian striker were replaced by Van de Beek and Daniel Gore, who plays for United's academy, at half-time. The 18-year-old crossed from the left flank and found the Dutchman with space.
The Dutch midfielder opened the scoring in the 49th minute with a superb volley from inside the box. Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes was unable to deny his effort. The 26-year-old seemed to find redemption with the opener after a long time on the sidelines.
Mason Mount, who joined Erik ten Hag's squad several weeks ago, started his second game in a Manchester United shirt. This is the Red Devils' second match win of the pre-season. They will face Arsenal on Saturday at 23.00 CEST at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
