Former Netherlands manager Louis Van Gaal, who was in charge of the national team at the World Cup in Qatar, hinted that Argentina received help because it was in their interest for Lionel Messi to win the biggest competition.
"I don't really want to say much about it. When you see how Argentina gets the goals and how we get the goals, and how some Argentina players overstepped the mark and were not punished, then I think it all premeditated game," he told 'NOS'.
Liverpool centre-back Virgil van Dijk was interviewed by the same Dutch media and the reporters asked him for his opinion about the former coach's comments.
"I heard it [Van Gaal's words] this morning, indeed. And that's actually it. It's of course his opinion. Everyone is allowed to have an opinion. I do not share the same opinion," he answered.
