Manchester United, who returned to the Champions League after a year's absence, have had a difficult start to the season with a dismal record of 4 defeats in 7 Premier League games.
Their poor start to the league campaign was followed by a 4-3 defeat at Bayern Munich on the opening day of the Champions League group stage.
On the eve of facing Galatasaray in the second Champions League match of the season, Raphael Varane appeared in a press conference alongside his coach Erik Ten Hag. And despite the current crisis, the Frenchman made no secret of the club's ambitions.
Asked if the Red Devils could win the competition, Varane replied: "Yes, I think so [United can win the Champions League]. It's a tough competition, but we have a quality team with a good mentality. We need to improve, the start of the season wasn't up to scratch, but I'm still convinced we can compete with the best teams."
"The competition is decided by detail and you have to be clinical to win it. We have to be sharp in front of goal, that's the reality. We have the quality in the team to win it, but we need to improve," added the former Real Madrid player.
