Manchester City and Spain midfielder Rodri was awarded the men's Ballon d'Or on Monday after winning a fourth consecutive Premier League title and Euro 2024. In an interview for Spanish radio station Cope, the Spain international spoke about his prized individual trophy and also hinted at Pep Guardiola's future at Manchester City.
"You want to be surrounded by the best and there will be a before and after Pep. When I signed, they told me that Guardiola was leaving but he is very ambitious. When he is gone, things will change but City will continue to be City," he said.
Pep Guardiola's contract with Manchester City expires in June 2025, with doubts about an uncertain future for both the English club and the Spanish manager. Neither the Premier League side nor Guardiola have given any clues about a possible renewal with the 53-year-old rumoured to be leaving the Etihad Stadium in the summer.
However, according to reports in England, the City board are confident that Guardiola will end up renewing his current contract.
