Vincent Kompany has the tough task of returning Bayern Munich this season to their golden era when they dominated the Bundesliga and were a force to be avoided in the Champions League play-offs, something that has been lost in the last two inconsistent seasons at the Allianz Arena.
For now the Belgian coach has made a good start to his first pre-season with the German club, having picked up two wins and a draw. The Germans recently claimed a narrow win in their first pre-season match against a potentially tough Tottenham side.
Gabriel Vidovic broke the deadlock with an early goal and Leon Goretzka extended the lead in the second half before Pedro Porro pulled one back a few minutes later. Kompany, after the game, stressed the importance of friendly matches and said his side still had room for improvement ahead of the start of the 2024/24 campaign.
