Young forwards Jota Silva and Francisco Conceicao were on Friday called up to the Portugal squad for the first time alongside star Cristiano Ronaldo for friendlies ahead of Euro 2024.
"Even when Cristiano [Ronaldo] is here, we cannot pass on all this responsibility to receive everyone and have only the responsibility on Cristiano to receive them. Cristiano knows how to receive because he is a player who has been with the national team for the most years," Bruno Fernandes told reporters.
"At this stage, at least so far, we have Pepe, we have Bernardo [Silva] too, who are players who have also been here for a long time. But aside from those, everyone who is here has always been able to welcome those who arrive," he added.
Coach Roberto Martinez unveiled a 32-man group for friendlies against Sweden and Slovenia in the run-up to the tournament in Germany from June 14 to July 14.
