Liverpool have little time to lick their wounds with a trip to AC Milan to come on Tuesday to open their return to the Champions League after a year away from Europe's elite club competition.
"I think it is the first time my birthday is not important for tomorrow, it's a big game for me and because of the history these two teams have, the venue, it's one to look forward to. I don't think any manager is scared to play the other team but we have a lot of respect for AC Milan. They have quality, we're not scared but we respect all their players," Arne Slot told reporters.
Liverpool will face the two most successful sides in the competition's history in Milan and Real Madrid. They also face more Italian, Spanish, German and French opposition in Bologna, Girona, Leipzig and Lille.
