Chelsea suffered a painful defeat against Liverpool who went on to lift the EFL Cup trophy, which would have been the first trophy in England for the Blues manager. Despite the defeat, the Argentinian manager drew positive conclusions from the game and his team's future and their chances of being in contention for silverware in the coming seasons.
"I remember after three or four years, Liverpool lost the Champions League, they lost the Europa League, and they kept believing and moving in the project and in the next season were stronger until they got what they wanted. This is a good example, Liverpool, if we want to challenge a team like Liverpool, it's not to be frustrated today because we didn't get the trophy."
"It's about to take the example that we need to keep believing, that is the most important thing," concluded Pochettino. Chelsea will have to recover quickly as they face Leeds in the FA Cup on 28 February.
