The Turk joined Real Madrid in 2010 and played for three seasons under Mourinho. The German in 159 appearances for Real Madrid was able to score 27 goals and provide a whopping 61 assists before joining Arsenal in the 2013/2014 season.
The second Turkish player to arrive at the Spanish club was Hamit Altintop, who switched from Bayern Munich to 'Los Blancos' in the summer of 2011. However, the midfielder hardly got any playing time and only made 12 appearances in which he managed to score one goal. Something similar happened to Nuri Sahin, who was the third and last Turk to arrive at the Santiago Bernabeu before Arda Guler.
