Brazil star Vinicius Jr has faced racial abuse since he joined Real Madrid in 2018. The winger condemned racist chants aimed at him by Atletico Madrid fans before the midweek Champions League match against Inter Milan.
In his message, the 23-year-old relays a video where Atletico supporters can be heard chanting racist abuse on front of the Metropolitano stadium in Madrid. "It's a sad reality that happens even during matches where I am not present," Vinicius said.
Spanish international Nico Williams spoke about the insults Vinicius Jr receives in some La Liga stadiums in an interview with 'AS'.
"He is insulted because he is a great player and because he is black. It's very bad and we have to cut these things out. You go to football to enjoy yourself, not to insult. Nobody is born a racist. Racism is a question of education, of teaching children well. They imitate, they do what they see," he said.
