Real Madrid player Fede Valverde spoke to the media in the press room ahead of the Club World Cup clash between the 'Merengues' and Al-Ahly, a match that will be played on Wednesday 8th February.
The Uruguayan footballer wanted to start by talking about the possibility of winning the title: "The Club World Cup was my first title as a Real Madrid player. It meant a lot in my career, it's a beautiful journey to get here. You win the Champions League and it's the end of the road. I hope it ends well. I enjoy every moment at Madrid.
Regarding the tough fixture schedule ahead of the team, Valverde commented: "It's part of modern football. There is more and more travelling, less and less rest. I try to take the positives out of everything, we have to keep improving physically. You have to get used to it, you play more and more. I have to keep training and adapt to the fact that the new football is every two or three days. It's good to be able to play 90 minutes every two or three days.
The Madrid player also wanted to talk about his team-mate Vinicius: "He's an incredible person, with a lot of values. On the pitch, he tries to enjoy it, it's his way of being like many other Brazilians, who are very cheerful and have fun, it's his way of playing and we have to respect it. I always say that so many fouls on a pitch is part of the game, we have to defend it as team-mates. Another thing is racism and what happens on the pitch, so much anger? He's a 22-year-old boy".
He added: "Vinicius is a human being, he can take problems home with him. It could be any son of any fan in the stands. You have to think about that and respect a lot more. You have to support your team, but when there is so much against a player you should look at each player and not pay for the problems of your life with a young man who enjoys his own way and deserves respect.
