Brazil suffered a nightmare 2-0 defeat in Montevideo, crashing to a first loss against Uruguay in 22 years. The defeat was compounded by the sight of veteran forward Neymar being stretchered off just before half-time with what appeared to be a knee injury.
Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr blamed himself for the defeat with the press: "A bit of everything was missing. I was very bad in the match, I have a lot of room for improvement. But it's about keeping a clear head so I can do what's best for the team," he told reporters.
"Whenever we come here it's always with great joy to defend our country, but this time we did it badly. Now it's time to rest and go back to the club. We are all trying to improve and think about what we need to develop to put the team where it deserves to be," he continued.
"I have a lot of developing to do in order to be able to play as well as I can, as I do at Real Madrid. Of course, the pressure is also great and I'm always ready. I want to develop and improve as quickly as possible to help the team."
