Nico Williams is one of Spain's internationals who is currently in Germany playing in the European Championship. Before the match against Italy, the Athletic player spoke to 'Onda Cero' and talked, among other things, about racism, an issue that unfortunately has made headlines this season.
Vinicius has been one of the players who has experienced it first-hand and this is how Nico Williams has seen the controversy surrounding the Madrid player: "Vinicius is a boy who has suffered a lot, he went from being the 'meme' of Spain to being a great player like the one he is now. In the end, we have to condemn these racist acts. Nobody likes to be insulted because of the colour of their skin".
"You have to try to open people's minds and let them know what the colour black is. If you teach those people who are a bit more closed-minded, I think it would be better", he proposed as a possible solution.
As for the Ballon d'Or, Nico didn't decide: "Vinicius, Mbappe, Bellingham.... They're all very good, whoever wins it will be very well deserved".
Finally, he said he is up to date on the rumours that he is on Barcelona's radar, although he said he is happy at Athletic. "I've seen something, but I'm focused on the European Championship and little else. I'm very happy in Bilbao. I have renewed recently, this season I have done very well, I feel very comfortable and happy. I hope to continue like this", he concluded.
