Although his arrival was planned for the summer of 2024, events brought forward Vitor Roque's arrival at Barcelona to this winter transfer window. The 18-year-old Brazilian is already a regular starter in Xavi Hernandez's squad and is making headlines after his recent goals and controversial sending off in the recent match against Alaves.
The striker arrived at the Catalan club from Athletico Paranaense after a millionaire agreement for which the Brazilian side would pocket a fixed amount of 30 million euros (Barcelona have paid 5 million for the moment) plus another good chunk in add-ons. 'Mundo Deportivo' revealed on Wednesday 7th February what they consist of, which amount to a total of 31 million euros.
According to the information in the aforementioned media, the main part of this amount in add-ons, around 25 million euros, will depend on the apparances of Vitor Roque during his stay in the Catalan club. Barcelona will pay Athletico Paranaense an extra 5 million euros for each season in which the striker plays more than 50% of the club's official matches in that season. The maximum cap will be the aforementioned 25 million, so the Catalan giants will end up paying that total amount if 'Tigrinho' plays at least half of the matches in five of his seasons at the club, with which he is linked until 2031.
Aside from the games that Vitor Roque may play for FC Barcelona, the Brazilian's success could also cost Barcelona a tidy sum in the future, as the two sides agreed on extra payments in his transfer if the striker achieves individual accolades during his time at the club.
Of the 31 million euros in add-ons, 3 would be paid if the striker is at some point among the shortlist of finalists for the 'The Best' award granted by FIFA. Similarly, the remaining one million to complete the total amount will depend on whether Vitor Roque wins the prestigious Ballon d'Or award as a 'Cule'. A few million that Barça would surely be delighted to pay, as it would mean that the signing has been a total success.
