Atletico Madrid manager Diego Pablo Simeone said on Sunday that he is "never satisfied" with "almost nothing", added that it is "obvious" that he "always wants to win but it is not easy" and revealed that he had already spoken to the board on Friday about the next season and that "everyone is very clear" about what they want.
"I don't give myself a note. I always want the best, I am never happy with almost nothing. I understand the place we have in La Liga, I understand the place we occupied 12 years ago in the Champions League, I understand that we compete against monsters and I understand that we all work very well with the club, the coaching staff, the players and our people," said the coach at a press conference.
"Obviously we want to be champions. It would be bad to want to finish third, fourth, second? We all want to be champions, but it's not easy," added Simeone.
"I'm very happy with the season the players have had. I have no doubt that everyone has given absolutely everything from their place. I have the peace of mind of having lived this season with a tremendous effort. We were close to playing in the final of the Copa del Rey and the semi-finals of the Champions League," he continued.
"We are closing a season that we are going to finish fourth. It's the first season we've finished fourth. There is always a first time. Let's keep working, each one from their own place, to be able to do the best for the collective," claimed Simeone, who explained that he held a meeting this Friday with the board about the upcoming season.
"We are all very clear about what we want. The club has always made a huge effort to transmit how we compete and to be in the Champions League for 12 consecutive years because of the quality of the players. We are all thinking in the same way and looking for what we are going to talk about and generate among ourselves," explained the Argentine coach.
