Atletico Madrid coach Diego Pablo Simeone said on Monday that he is sticking with the "positive things" and not the mistakes the team made in Monday's draw at Villarreal and said the club is getting closer to signing a player the team needs.
"I'll take the positives, there were quite a few things," the Atletico coach summed up at a press conference, although he did not hide the fact that there are things that need to be improved.
"I think we conceded goals that we could have avoided and we have improved individually. We have to work," admitted Simeone, who insisted that there were defensive situations that could have been resolved better.
The coach pointed out that he changed Alexander Sorloth because he was not participating too much in the game. "He needed a more associative player like Correa. He did what he had to do, the goal, and we need him in other areas," he added.
Regarding possible moves in the final stretch of the transfer window, he said that the possible departure of Joao Felix is "a market situation", but that although it is a delicate issue because it does not depend on the club on some occasions he does not see other departures.
"In the meantime, the club is working and we are close to bringing in a player that we need and hopefully, we can bring him in to strengthen the team," he concluded.
