Argentina secured a 1-0 victory against Brazil, but Lionel Scaloni, far from celebrating enthusiastically, dropped a bombshell. "I need to think," he commented, hinting that he is considering resigning.
'DirecTVSports' inquired, once the news had sunk in, asking De Paul and Dybala how the coach's words affected the players, and both agreed that they didn't see it coming.
"I was in the anti-doping tests and didn't see it until I got to the locker room. It was a bit of a shock, we didn't expect it," said De Paul. "It's exhausting... We set the bar very high, and it's normal that he wants to take a few days. It's okay to say what one feels," he added.
Paulo Dybala also found out afterwards: "I hadn't seen anything; I was without my phone, talking to the guys. It surprised us, after such a beautiful and important match."
The Roma forward wanted to make it clear that they are fully behind the coach and activated the commitment mindset for his club: "Now, to support, to think about what's coming, and each of us to think about our club."
