Rayados de Monterrey president Jose Antonio Noriega said Monday that his team was proud to sign World Cup winner Sergio Ramos because the defender had offers and preferred Mexican football.
“It is a source of pride for Monterrey to have a player of his level, we feel happy knowing that Sergio had offers from several parts of the world”, said Noriega to the media, before leaving for Madrid, to finalise the signing of the defender.
Sergio Ramos, one of the most important players of the 21st century, with one World Cup, two European Championship and four UEFA Champions League titles, is about to become a star for Monterrey, which hopes to benefit from his performance in the league and the Club World Cup.
“He has told us that his period of inactivity was due to the fact that he had not found an offer that convinced him and he has had many; so we are very happy that our proposal and our goals have encouraged him,” he added.
Monterrey is one of the teams with the most quality players in Mexican football, with five league titles, five CONCACAF League titles and two third place finishes in the Club World Cup.
“The most important thing will be what he will give us on the field, but also the media impact and the joy that Sergio will bring to the fans,” concluded Noriega.
