The opposition to Joan Laporta has sprung into action. Victor Font, who was a candidate in the 2021 elections, called in a press conference for the Barcelona president to bring forward the elections to 2025 and was very critical of his management.

They have let Joan Laporta work, let him close the summer transfer market and let him explain himself. But they have given him no more respite. The opposition to the FC Barcelona president has already started its own campaign calling for the elections to be brought forward, something that the ‘Cules’ board are considering.
Victor Font appeared at a press conference on Tuesday to lash out at the current president and analyse the club's situation. The 52-year-old businessman has been a candidate in the last two elections, in 2018 and 2021. In these he came second with 29.99% of the votes, while Laporta got 54.28% and Toni Freixa, 8.58%.
"It has been a disappointing and frustrating three months, there is no plan and we see that we are improvising. There are fewer and fewer good people left in the club's structures, there are management errors that end up in promises that are not kept and in lies, and this is unacceptable. We can make mistakes, but the members can't be fooled," Font criticised.
The next elections are due to take place in 2026, after the five-year cycle has been completed, but the opposition to Laporta has already begun to form groups to position itself. And Fon, who leads ‘Si al Futur’, called for an advance: "We have to do things right, and as this board of directors has shown that it has no potential, we ask that elections be held in the summer of 2025.
One of the points that the businessman criticised most about Laporta's management were his famous financial levers, which he does not consider to be a sign of financial recovery: "We cannot say that the club has been saved financially if we do not manage to resolve the Barca Studios’ mess and demonstrate to the Barcelona supporters that the club can generate sustained profits to repay the debt of l'Espai Barca".
Another issue he addressed in his appearance was the squad management: "On a sporting level, we improvise, we cross our fingers and hope the ball goes in, but I think we deserve more. Sustained results are achieved with a plan, which we have seen this summer is lacking. The priority is a midfielder and a left winger and we end up signing Olmo and saying that Gundogan has left for sporting reasons when we know that this is not the case".
"First they say that we are ready to sign Nico Williams and then we end up saying that we are not talking about players from another club’, added Victor Font, who represents one of the main focal points of the current opposition to Laporta. Marc Ciria, Joan Camprubi and Jordi Termes (creator of Bizum) are others who have more or less vehemently expressed their intention to be pre-candidates for the Barca elections. We'll see if it's in 2026... or 2025.
