Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone said winning the first game is "very important" after beating Dortmund 2-1 in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final.
"I leave with the feeling of having won the first game, which is very important. The boys made an important effort. We were fortunate not to concede the equaliser," said the coach.
Simeone insisted on the importance of the victory. "We are happy to have won. We know what we are going to find in Dortmund. A team that plays well, with strong, tall players."
The manager spoke about the poor run of Morata, who has scored just one goal in the last 14 games. "There are things in football that cannot be explained. Alvaro had six impressive months and today he is going through a more difficult time because he can't find the goal. He will find it because he is working."
On Lino, who will not be able to play the second leg in Dortmund due to an accumulation of cards, Simeone said that "he has spectacular physical conditions".
On the atmosphere they will find in the return leg in Germany, Simeone insisted they know what awaits them. "We will have to prepare for what we have to do on the pitch, which is what counts. We know that people push, but we know what we have to do."
"When I win, I'm happy. I have a great feeling. Now, we'll go to their pitch knowing what we're going to find. We will have to suffer and take advantage of the spaces. It was difficult to be at the same level for 90 minutes," he concluded.
