Florentino Perez explained after receiving the Golden Boy 2022 award for the best club president that Madrid has changed its strategy in the market. He said that if now there are not as many 'Galacticos' as in the past it is because it is increasingly difficult for clubs to accept the departures of their key players.

After winning the Golden Boy award for the best president, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez explained at the gala in Turin how he has had to change his transfer policy.
Accustomed to signing 'Galacticos' in his previous spell as president, this time the situation has changed considerably, although he believes the team is doing just as well as before. "Real Madrid must always be a mixture of both categories: champions and young talents. Now we are raising very young people because it is increasingly difficult to buy champions, because teams don't want to sell them," he commented.
"We have Vinicius Jr, Rodrigo, Valverde, Militao, Camavinga or Tchouameni in the squad. Having so many youngsters playing in the starting line-up is difficult, but it's nice to see them alongside Modric, Kroos and these champions. Together with the atmosphere on the pitch, it makes us almost unbeatable," he continued.
He said that, for him, it is as important to sign top players as it is to sign young players: "It is the same satisfaction, because the former are great champions, the latter can become so. Camavinga, for example, arrived here at the age of 18, he is growing up and has his whole life ahead of him. Zidane, for example, had already become a champion and gave us the Champions League in Glasgow with that great goal.
Asked about Madrid's effectiveness in the Champions League and the tough games they had to face, especially in the last edition, he said what he considers to be the most difficult match of all. "The one against City... We got to the 89th minute and we needed two goals. We scored one and when they took six minutes of extra time, we knew that this competition was ours because you could feel it in the atmosphere," he said.
Finally, he was full of praise for Carlo Ancelotti: "Without a doubt, he is the best coach at Real Madrid, because he has known us for many years. He knows our values and knows how to transmit them to the players. This makes him the perfect coach. It's difficult to find a better coach than Ancelotti.
