Spanish Olympic team captain Abel Ruiz said Thursday that his team wants "the gold" and is not satisfied with a silver medal, having "fought hard for it" after a training camp that started 40 days ago.
"Obviously it's exciting to be here, after many years in the lower categories. We are looking forward to Friday. We arrived in Paris with a lot of enthusiasm and we're coming back for the final. France is a very tough opponent and very difficult at home, but we want the gold and we are going to work for it," he told the press conference.
"We are motivated because we know it is very important for us, for Spain, for the COE... for all of us who are part of this dream. It is something that could be historic and we have fought hard for it," he added.
Finally, Abel Ruiz highlighted the good atmosphere in the group and that he is not worried about having scored just one goal in the tournament.
"I'm thinking about the team. That's what I've always done when I've come to the national team. I'm lucky that I've been able to be captain over the years and I'm proud to represent Spain by putting together good groups. The key to all tournaments is to create a good team and in this tournament we have also achieved that and that's why we are in the final," he concluded.
