Dean Huijsen always had it clear. Despite being born in the Netherlands, he wanted to defend Spain, as he grew up in Marbella. In an interview to 'EFE' he revealed that when the U21 team contacted him, the defender had already opted for 'La Rojita'.

Dean Huijsen (Amsterdam, Netherlands, 2005) arrived in Marbella (Malaga) at the age of 5. He played 18 games in the youth teams of the Netherlands.
However, he is now playing for Spain U21 for the first time, after obtaining Spanish citizenship. "When they approached me, I already had the idea of playing for Spain," he said in an interview with EFE.
Huijsen's market value has risen from 2.5 million to 10 million since January, thanks to a loan move to Roma from Juventus, which he opted for after a call from Jose Mourinho. "When a coach like Mourinhoo calls you, it's hard to say no," he said.
The defender despite being only 18 years old has shown that he also has great goalscoring ability for a centre-back, having scored two goals in just four starts so far this season for the Giallorossi.
