Pep Guardiola spoke to 'ESPN' about Julian Alvarez's departure to Atletico. He said that, as a coach, he understands that when one of his players wants to leave it is because he is unhappy and the best thing to do is what the forward did.

Julian Alvarez has decided to leave Manchester City and manager Pep Guardiola understands his former player's decision. "When they want to leave it is because they are not happy here. And, when they are not, they can't perform at their maximum level," he told 'ESPN'.
"Here we demand that they perform at the highest level. You can't, in any profession, get up in the morning and do your best with a big smile if you want to leave. What they have to do is come to an agreement with the club," he continued.
The Manchester City boss understands that, if Alvarez was unhappy, he has made the right decision. "I've always thought: if you want to be here, it's because you want to be here. A footballer's life is very short and they have to look for places where they think they are going to be happier."
The Argentinian was presented with Atletico Madrid and hopes to find the happiness Guardiola talks about at the Metropolitano. The fans, of course, have given him the welcome he deserves and are more than excited about his arrival at the Metropolitano.
