With the departure of Sergio Busquets, Barcelona will have to search their squad for a new 4th captain. All things being equal, Ousmane Dembele would be the veteran of choice. But Xavi Hernandez could intervene and name Ronald Araujo or Robert Lewandowski as 4th captain, since Sergi Roberto could take over Busquets' role.

Barcelona are facing a new problem next season. With the confirmed departure of Sergio Busquets from the Spanish side, the squad will have to choose a 4th team captain.
Many names are on the table with incertainty in the air, since Messi's return could make him the leader of the Catalans. According to 'Sport', Dembele, given he has been in the squad the longest, would be the logical choice to become part of the 'top 4', but Xavi could intervene.
The coach would favour Ronald Araujo and Robert Lewandowski much more to be captains, according to 'AS'. Although it's still not clear who would wear the captain's armband, Sergi Roberto, as Busquet's successor, could likely take it.
Hierarchy has always been important at the Spanish team, and in that case, given that the player from Reus renewed his contract for another season, he should be the new leader of the top flight team, but nothing has been decided.
Xavi has always highlighted a footballer's importance on and off the pitch and how it influences his role in the squad. So, if nothing changes, Sergi Roberto, Jordi Alba and Ter Stegen would be captains, and the 4th would be known next summer.
Another important factor could be the departure of Alba. Everything seems to indicate that, after meetings between his agent and the clubs directors, the full-back could follow in Busquets' steps at the end of the current season. In that case, the club would have two new captains.
