Footballers are considering calling a strike if they continue to accumulate matches every three days. They feel that their health is at stake and that they must strike a blow.
Nasser Al-Khelaifi spoke about this at the 31st General Assembly of the ECA. "It's a subject of debate, of course. It always has been, to be honest, but I think all stakeholders must come together and discuss it in a prosperous way and see what is best for everybody," he commented.
Asked whether the Club World Cup helps or hinders, he replied bluntly: "Every club wants to play it. And the players or teams that have complaints, don't play in it. If you have a complaint, don't play it.
"I received complaints because there was a limit of two clubs per country, they wanted more. And, from the other side, there are also complaints from the players," he added.
"We respect the players and they should be protected. We are trying to figure out how to generate that extra money. The clubs are financing the ecosystem in the best conditions and the salaries go up and up. But we don't move just for money, that's the wrong message. Clubs are moving to recoup their cost money," he concluded.
